Metronomy!

I would like to preface this with a little bit of background about why I started this mash up thing. I grew up on the South Side of Chicago. At the time, Rap hadn’t really developed its own identity in Chicago. But where Rappers struggled, DJs did more than pick up the slack and had been doing so for a long time. Hip-Hop DJs weren’t the only DJs out there, despite what mainstream media portrayed. House and other dance genres played a big role in developing my musical taste.

As a kid growing up in Chicago, I spent a decent amount of time going to mix tape shops and trying to record DJ sets from the radio. At that time, that was the closest I could get to DJing. As you may know, turntables are not a cheap investment and they were definitely out of my reach. Even today, a worthwhile DJ setup will cost you more than $1000. That being said, I recently turned to computers as an alternative way to ‘DJ’ music. It is NOT the traditional form of DJing and I have great respect for those with tradition DJing experience and talent (see Scratch.)

More recently, I have been listening to the likes of Girl Talk and The Hood Internet. Girl Talk’s Night Ripper album threw me for a loop and changed the way I listened to music. The Hood Internet first captivated me with their mashup of T.I. Vs Fujiya & Miyagi.

Ok, now that I killed any buzz you may have had… here is my first release:
